STORYLINE:
Poor weather in New York City didn't dampen the energy of a group of a hundred-plus protestors marching for Tibet's freedom through Manhattan's streets on Friday.
The demonstrators marched to the Chinese Consulate demanding they not execute a Tibetan monk, Trulku Tenzin Delek, sentenced to death for fatal bombings in southwest China.
Delek, from China's Sichuan province, was detained in Tibet in 2002 in connection to a string of bomb attacks in support of Tibetan independence.
The protestors also demanded the release of all political prisoners in China.
Tibetans accuse China of illegally occupying their homeland and allege that hundreds of Tibetan political prisoners have been imprisoned by Chinese authorities.
Activists and human rights groups also say that Beijing is seeking to destroy Tibet's cultural heritage.
One protestor said that the demonstration was part of a "global week of action culminating on Human Rights Day."
New York is one of several cities where Tibetan protestors marched to protest against China's policies in Tibet.
