In the west of the state of South Australia are the Yellabinna and Yumburra wilderness areas which is cut by the iconic Googs track. Where desert meets Mallee.
A harsh, arid and desolate ecosystem with beauty around every corner, rich in native flora and fauna.
It may not be visible at first glance but take a second look or patiently wait under the shade of a mallee tree and wildlife will soon appear, from birds, bugs and reptiles.
My wildlife experiences where unforgettable such as the Long-tailed Pea Blue Butterfly on the brilliantly red coloured flowers of the Sturt Desert Pea, the rare and shy Major Mitchell's Cockatoo, the bearded Dragon encounters along with a pair of Chestnut-rumped Thornbill which had me scratching my head at first, plus many more amazing creatures. Including the creatures of the night which seemed to pop up out of nowhere such as the amazing Wolf Spider and Stick Insect.
So join me on this epic journey exploring the diverse and amazing wildlife of the beautiful and at times deadly environment.
