New Delhi, Oct 23 (ANI): The writers staged a silent protest outside the Sahitya Kala Akademi here on Friday to vent their ire over the Centre's attitude post the rising cases of religious intolerance in the country. The writers carried banners of renowned Kannada scholar M.M Kalburgi, who was gunned down by unidentified persons in Dharwad last month for expressing his views against certain religious groups. A writer, who participated in the protest, said that the Centre is indifferent towards the views of academicians and scholars and doesn't seem to pay any heed. However, all writers did not share the same view and said that it was politically motivated. Questioning the selection of awardees during the former UPA regime, another writer wondered as to why none of them gave up their awards during circumstances like emergency.
