Welcome to the Pencross Railway of Vancouver Island. (Product links and cast list at bottom.)
I certainly didn’t intend to crash my awesome 32 mm gauge Swift Sixteen wagons for this video. I’ve never had anything drop from my elevated line before today’s clumsy elbow incident. These 16 mm to the foot scale resin railcar kits are very well built and now I realize that more than ever! I suspect that other kits and off the shelf wagons would have fared worse.
I intended this video to both showcase these awesome wagons - decorated as War Department wagons and weathered - and look into the pulling power of my oscillating cylinder Mamod Mark 3 locomotive. This little beginner live steam engine is a lot of fun. I’ve modified mine over time, mostly cosmetically. Today’s video proves the Mk iii is a great puller too!
As usual I round out my scenic element with period products by COBI Bricks. These kits are good quality, Lego-compatible and made in Poland. Featured are the Great War Camel F1, British Marks I and V tanks, WWI howitzers and Renault FT-17 tanks. I like combining my COBI hobby with my live steam hobby.
Despite the accident, this video was fun to make. It is especially fun to have the proprietor of Swift Sixteen lend his voice, along with the usual cast of characters. I thank them all. This is large scale model railroading at its funnest and feels a lot like community.
