Euro NCAP performs a series of safety tests focusing on the crash avoidance technologies of light commercial vehicles.
Active safety is tested based on the van’s equipment: Autonomous Emergency Braking Systems (Car-to-Car, Pedestrian, and Cyclist scenarios), lane support and speed assist technologies, and Occupant Status Monitoring (Attention Assist and Seatbelt Reminders).
Tested here is the Citroën Berlingo - ë-Berlingo + Safety Pack. The results apply to all Berlingos, and their corporate twins: all FIAT Doblos, all Opel/Vauxhall Combos, and all Peugeot Partners (3rd generation, K9 from 2018).
The Citroën Berlingo comes with a variety of powertrains. The van tested here is the ë-Berlingo electric version but the rating applies more broadly. Much of the safety equipment on the Berlingo comes as an option. This is disappointing, as it comes as standard on the passenger versions of the van. The safety systems show limited performance compared with competitors in this segment and the Berlingo offers a Gold level of safety to those willing to pay for the options.
