Did U know that coal can form rapidly in nature?
A coalified log sticking through many sedimentary layers in Australia proves they were laid down in a relatively rapid succession, not over a long period of time. Forked coal seams sabotage swamp theory of coal formation. Some coal was produced in a lab in just a few hours in 1972. Coalification has taken place near Mount St. Helens since 1980. From a report published in "Organic Geochemistry" in 1984 it follows that coal can form in nature in only 36 weeks.
