Prelude #59, completed on August 13th, 2021, begins as a tense, slightly angry outburst which is a reflection of some challenges I've experienced in recent weeks. As the first theme develops, it intensifies throughout the piece.

Like its recent predecessors (there seems to be a pattern here, although it's not intentional), when the second theme begins the key changes, the tempo slows, and an eight bar melody--the first four bars rather sad, the second four somewhat more hopeful--takes center stage and grows until the first theme returns.
