The Global Initiative on Disaster Risk Management (GIDRM) is a project commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and it is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
In 2015, the parallel development of different global agendas, (such as the Paris Agreement on Climate Change or the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction) only led to limited alignment of these agreements. Coherence among these agendas is lacking, which can create a significant additional burden for countries (e.g. overlapping responsibilities or duplicated data collection), when implementing these agendas. The GIDRM wants to counteract this situation with their approach to foster practical coherence for resilience. To find out how, please watch the film.
