In the aftermath of the tragic and mysterious death of her 22-year old son, August, Anna arrives alone and out of place in the city where he died. The police, concluding that his fatality was self-inflicted, offer little solace. Attempting to make sense of the loss of her only child Anna takes up in his apartment and as an estranged mother must confront her own hidden guilt.
