Ralph Klassen was a smooth skating defensive forward in the NHL during the mid 1970s and early 1980s. In 1977, Canada was back in the World Championships and Ralph Klassen was the last player selected to go to Vienna, Austria.
Klassen was on a line with Phil Esposito and played his best hockey of his career. Although the team struggled against the Soviets, Canada demolished the gold medal Czechs and bronze medal Swedes in the medal round.
Ralph Klassen was from my hometown of Humboldt Saskatchewan and died in August 2020. This video is a small celebration and tribute to his his life in hockey.
After the Humboldt Broncos tragedy in 2018, part of my personal grieving, processing, and healing journey involved researching some of the NHL hockey personalities from my hometown.
This video is a personal inquiry project and is for educational purposes only. I do not own the artwork or imagery in this video.
