The most important date of China's 2017 political calendar has now been set: October 18. That's the date announced for the opening of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), a key gathering that takes place every five years. The National Congress is expected to review the CPC's work and accomplishments over the past five years, and forge an action plan to promote its development, while pushing forward with efforts to build a moderately prosperous society. The anti-corruption campaign and strategic development plans for the next five years like Belt and Road Initiative will also be on the agenda.
