National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday carried out searches at least 60 locations in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in connection with the Left Wing Extremism (LWE) case. The raids occurred in Prakasam, Rajahmundry and Srikakulam districts in Andhra Pradesh and in Telangana's Hyderabad. These raids come weeks after NIA conducted a series of raids in Telangana and Chhattisgarh in connection with a case involving the recovery of explosive materials and drones from the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist). The residences of leaders of civil rights sympathizers who have links with Maoists are being searched.
