This 15 second clip is just a few inches of the thousands of feet of film that BELONG TO NBC SPORTS. I repeat, this is not my clip. I am not attempting to infringe upon the copyright holder, but merely sharing for a laugh with friends.

*Cliffs: Former international footballer Robbie Earle stumbles over - and proceeds to absolutely destroy - Ricky van Wolfswinkel's name while calling highlights - have a 14 second listen.

Why it's hilarious, long version: Here's the situation...
This is the first year that NBC is covering the Barclay's Premier League on NBCSN [Channel 220 for those of you on DirecTV] in the United States, the highest level of football in England (with 2 of the 20 teams actually from Wales, but I digress).
This funny little stumble occurs during the very first week of broadcasting, while reviewing the action at Carrow Road, where Norwich City were hosting Everton [match report link: [ Ссылка ], ended 2-2].
Ricky van Wolfswinkel scores [nice header to snatch a point in the 71st], so Robbie Earle confidently sets it up with...
"Probably has the best name in the Premier League this weekend...
and then runs into the problem. The actual name. In a second, confidence fades to panic, and he goes with...
"Robin van (wind-wink?)".
The man's name is pronounced "rick-ee van volfs-vinkel," which they both finally arrive at - together - in an awkward, simultaneous sounding-out of the poor chap's name. (Those of us with less common or difficult last names, like myself, feel for you Ricky).
He and Rebecca Lowe then sound it out together, in what I can only surmise to be their first time pronouncing the long [but not really that difficult] name on live TV. Luckily, he either wasn't getting the start, or was injured or something I'm not sure of, so I've yet to hear these three tango since.

I know, I know, this is funny on so many levels. But seriously though, keep up the good work, NBC. Much improved over previous coverage providers. (As an aside: sorry you guys, I'll remember our precious Saturday mornings together - it's just, things have changed, and I like how things are going - I'm sorry, but I don't want to see you any more. Can we still be friends?)
