— Francine Impacts - Hurricane Conditions in LA - Shift East —
We’re tracking Tropical Storm Francine in the western Gulf. This storm will likely become Hurricane Francine later today as it becomes better organized. This storm will work it’s way north and most likely make landfall in Louisiana late Wednesday as a Category 2 or stronger.
For us, that will mean heavy rain starting this afternoon and continuing tonight and into Wednesday and Thursday. Mobile and Baldwin counties are now under a tropical storm watch. Rainfall totals could be 5″+ in coastal areas, with amounts of 2 inches to 4 inches in other areas. Wind most likely won’t be a major issue, but we will likely get tropical storm force gusts in coastal areas.
There will also be a risk of tornadoes in the outer bands, some coastal flooding, and the rip current risk will be extreme in the coming days.
Conditions should improve on Friday with a nice weekend following.
