STORYLINE:
Associated Press Television filmed Turkish military exercises near the border with Iraq at Ikizce in Sirnak province on Tuesday.
Also on Tuesday Turkish warplanes bombed suspected Kurdish rebel hideouts in Iraq, a Turkish news agency reported, citing Iraqi Kurdish officials.
Dogan agency said planes struck a border outpost being used by Kurdish rebels near the Iraqi town of Zakho at 2 a.m. (0000GMT). It cited police sources on the Iraqi side.
Turkish intelligence reports have said some deserted border posts were occupied by guerrillas.
A Dogan reporter in northern Iraq, speaking live with CNN-Turk television, also said jets bombed suspected rebel bases in the Haftanin and Sinad areas. There were no reports of casualties.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan told party members late Monday that the date of an anticipated cross-border operation was "nearing," a ruling party legislator said Tuesday.
