It’s a solemn day for Parkland, Florida, as they mark five years since the deadly school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

On that day in 2018, Nikolas Cruz opened fire inside the school, killing 14 students and three staff members. These haunting images of students fleeing the high school take us back to that day.

Cruz has since been sentenced to life behind bars for carrying out the crime.

The Parkland community is planning several commemoration events today to honor and remember the lives lost on that tragic day five years ago.
