With France celebrating 150 years of impressionism in 2024, Rendez-Vous with Yasmin & Kumar today is about the birth of impressionism in France in 1874.
Also featuring are some of the female impressionist painters and the Post impressionism period focusing on Vincent Van Gogh.
Today’s episode also features the Sky Gallery of the Fareed Uduman Art Forum, 65/9 Kirula Road Colombo 5, made possible by Jomo Uduman. Dr Avanti Jayasinghe, Counselling Psychologist / Visual Artist / Lecturer explains how she perceives the effects Van Gogh’s mental health had on his paintings.
Ending the episode is Van Gogh’s painting Starry Night over the Rhône which was presented for the very first time in Arles, since its creation, on exceptional loan from Musée d’Orsay to the music interpreted by Menaka de Fonseka Sahabandu
