What does CBD stand for?
CBD stands for cannabidiol. Cannabidiol is a plant compound, naturally occurring from either the Hemp (Cannabis Sativa), or Cannabis (Cannabis Indica) plant. In the US our CBD oil product is grown, harvested and made in the USA and comes from organic practices in Colorado, and Nevada.

What is CBD?
CBD is one of the ‘cannabinoids’ that is naturally present in both hemp, and cannabis plants, and their final product.

In simple terms, ‘cannabinoids’ are active plant compounds that are present in many plants. However, the term cannabinoid is often associated with the cannabis plant. Cannabidiol (or CBD as it is commonly known), is one of the most popularized and researched Cannabinoids.

So far, scientific research has led to the discovery of more than 500 natural chemical compounds from the cannabis plant. Yet less than one hundred of the cannabinoids have actually been identified. Among them, CBD and THC are the most familiar to us, largely due to their presence in pop-culture. So it is important to consider that because of this, there is still a wealth of knowledge to be gained from further study of these unidentified cannabinoids.

Other cannabinoids from the cannabis plant, which have already been identified and researched, include THC, CBN, THCV, CBG, CBC, CBL, and many others.

Each of these cannabinoids possess different qualities. Due to their distinct chemical structures, of which THC and CBD are the most extensively studied, at Nordic Oil we seek to innovate, and to develop specific CBD products for a variety of needs.

THC is regularly avoided in our CBD oil and CBD products beyond the legal limit of 0.3% allotted by the 2018 Farm Bill. We choose to avoid THC due to its psychoactive properties and Schedule 1 status. The intoxicating effects of THC when consumed in high quantities are not desired for many hoping to use CBD throughout their busy schedules. Full Spectrum CBD oil does not exhibit psychoactive effects as its molecular structures are aligned differently. CBD only interacts with the C2 receptor in the brain, which controls the central nervous system.
