Ahead of the November 11th 2023 Governorship elections in Kogi, Imo and Bayelsa states, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC Prof Mahmood Yakubu has tasked security agencies to work inline with their mandate to ensure a hitchfree process.
Prof Yakubu gave the indication at a meeting of the Inter Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security held at the INEC headquarters in Abuja.
The INEC boss commended the security community for the successful conduct of the 2023 general elections and challenged them to do more especially in the forthcoming off cycle polls.
The meeting was attended by various representatives from the nations security agencies including the co chairman of the committee and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu who in his remarks assured of efforts to support INEC to deliver a peaceful Governorship Election in Imo,Bayelsa and Kogi states.
The meeting is part of INEC consultations with relevant stakeholders to review the 2023 general election, x-raying lessons learnt to improve the conduct of future elections in Nigeria.
