The government of Newfoundland and Labrador reported 15 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, bringing the provincial total to 135.
The province said seven people have been hospitalized as a result of the illness caused by the novel coronavirus and two are in intensive care.
Newfoundland’s chief medical officer Dr. Janice Fitzgerald reiterated the need for social distancing after confirming Saturday that the province has seen its first case of community transmission.
Newfoundland Premier Dwight Ball also urged residents of Labrador to refrain from travelling to Quebec for anything other than “essential travel.”
