Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews must resign and is now “becoming an embarrassment to Australian politics,” according to Sky News host Peter Gleeson.

“The old saying goes that the truth will set you free, clearly, it’s been lost on the Andrews administration,” Mr Gleeson said.

On Tuesday, the Premier faced questions concerning the security of quarantine facilities and was later criticised for claiming he did not believe ADF support was offered to the state by the federal government.

Defence Minister Linda Reynolds quickly rebuffed the claim in a statement saying, “ADF officials asked whether Victorian authorities required assistance with its mandatory quarantine system on multiple occasions. No request for quarantine support was subsequently received from Victoria at that time”.

Mr Gleeson said Daniel Andrews is “desperate and hapless” and is “prepared to deflect the blame at any cost to anybody other than himself”.

“If he was honourable, he’d fall on his sword … Andrews must resign”.
