The Congress said it is because of the efforts that the party had made around 14 years ago that the cheetahs would now arrive in India.
Taking to it's Twitter handle, the Congress said in April 2010, the then Union minister for forest and environment Jairam Ramesh had gone to the Cheetah Outreach Centre in Africa for the project.
According to the Congress the Supreme Court struck down the project in 2013 but the ban was lifted in 2020.
The Congress said it is because of the efforts that the party had made around 14 years ago that the cheetahs would now arrive in India.
Eight cheetahs will be flown from the Savannas in Nambi to the Kunno National Park in Seopur in Gwalior in what is one of the world's biggest wildlife translocation projects.
