Hello, I’m Nir Erez, and I want to tell you what we do here at Trial-In Pharma and why we specifically focus on Stage 4 cancer. Many people approach me, asking, "Why Stage 4 cancer and not the earlier stages of the disease?"
Stage 4 cancer is metastatic cancer—it's the most aggressive form of the disease. The cancer has spread to various vital organs in the body, making it an extremely challenging situation. Metastatic cancer is the only stage in which the treatment goals are very unique to this phase. There are two treatment goals: one is to extend life, which is something that both you and I want, and the second, which is intertwined with the first, is to ensure quality of life. Both you and I want quality of life.
Quality of life and life extension are also important for metastatic cancer patients. They want the same thing, but what happens? The standard protocols that are routinely offered to you in hospitals—if they even offer you anything at all—do not achieve these two goals over time. The statistics here are grim and well-known.
At this stage of the disease, which is metastatic, unlike in non-metastatic cancer—where, by the way, the treatment goal is singular: cure, to eliminate the disease entirely and continue living a normal life and doing what we normally do—in metastatic disease, the situation is different. Here, we need to fight this battle with strategy; we need to think outside the box, see what's happening at the forefront of oncology medicine globally, including the standard protocols used around the world.
