Storytelling consists of two words, namely story (cerita) and telling (penceritaan). In short, storytelling is the activity of telling stories. People who do storytelling are called storytellers (pencerita, pendongeng). Storytelling is often used in learning and teaching activities, especially for children. Storytelling is a fun way that can motivate them to learn as well as stimulate their imagination and creativity. Storytelling in the classroom can make students involved and participate in storytelling activities. Storytelling activities are especially useful for language learners because it can help hone their speaking and listening skills.

Once upon a time there was a kingdom in Kediri. The king had a beautiful and famous daughter named Dewi Kilisuci. Many men came to propose to her, one of them was King Lembu Suro who had a head like an ox. But Dewi Kilisuci did not want to marry King Lembu Suro. Then he looked for ways to thwart the proposal. Dewi Kilisuci will marry King Lembu Suro if Lembu Suro can make a well at the top of Mount Kelud with a time limit of one night and must be completed before sunrise. However, Lembu Suro can meet these requirements. Dewi Kulisuci made a plan with the royal soldiers to cover the well with stones while Lembu Suro was still in the well.
