Easy homemade treacle sponge
You cannot go wrong with this simple and delicious baked pudding!
Why not try out my recipe and for next time you can try this with strawberry jam or on its own as a Victoria sponge cake:)
PREP: 5 minutes
COOK TIME: 25 minutes (total)
SERVES: 4-5
INGREDIENTS:
- 200g of Self-raising flour
- 200g of unsalted butter (softened)
- 150g of caster sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1tsp of Vanilla extract
- 1tsp of baking powder
METHOD:
1) Pre-heat the oven on 180c.
2) Butter your baking tray and add your golden syrup as a base.
3) Combine the butter, sugar and vanilla extract together until fluffy and white.
4) Slowly add in your 3 eggs ( I did this in four stages). Mix together until combined
5) Sieve the self-raising flour and add baking powder. Mix together until combined and do not over whisk!
4) Pour the mixture into your baking try and smooth.
5) Place the baking tray on a bain-marie with water and then place in the oven for 25 minutes.
