Over the last ten years, Uganda’s literacy rate has risen from 69% to 71% among people with 10 years of age and above, according to statistics of Uganda National Household Survey. Education activists and analysts attribute this success mostly to work of the private sector and non-government organisations. One such NGO is Fields of Life, which has over the last 25 years helped deliver education services to people in hard to reach areas. Today, they celebrate the establishment of 150 schools - an achievement that has contributed significantly to the rising the literacy levels in the country.
