German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Friday expressed his condolences over the death of Queen Elizabeth.
Flags were seen at half mast in front of the Chancellery in Berlin.
Scholz said the Queen helped Britain and Germany reconcile after World War 2.
"Germany looks back with gratitude on the Queen, who, among many others, also stood for the fact that the former wartime enemies Great Britain and Germany were able to reconcile again," he said, adding: "Her numerous visits here with us were also outstanding events because of her special presence and affection, which are still remembered by many."
