Italian pianist Ludovico Einaudi performed on a platform floating on the Arctic Ocean for a Greenpeace campaign. His original composition “Elegy for the Arctic” was performed before a glacier as part of a campaign to protect the Arctic area.
According to Greenpeace the Arctic is the least protected ocean. Due to climate change and reducing temperature the Arctic ice has thinned by more than 50 meters and there is net area loss of 16.5 sq kms in 2014-2015.
The pianist added that what happens in the Arctic is related to the rest of the world. Industries are taking advantage and exploiting the area and the melting ice is a sign of danger. This unique performance gave voice to the campaign created awareness.
