The South Ferry Loop was the original terminus for IRT Broadway-Seventh Avenue local trains, however the loop function required gap-fillers for newer IRT trains and the original IRT length meant it could only fit the first 4-5 cars of a 10-car train. It was replaced with a modern South Ferry platform in 2009, however reopened to serve (1) trains as a temporary terminus when the new platform was flooded from Hurricane Sandy. It is now abandoned again after the flooded South Ferry platform was reopened recently. This video showcases a tour of the station before its likely-permanent closure along with some R62A (1) train action.
