(20 Jul 2014) Bosnian families on Sunday buried the remains of 283 Muslims and one Roman Catholic Croat who were killed at the start of the Bosnian war of 1992-95.
The bodies were laid out in green coffins in a sports field in Kozarac village, where prayers were held for them before burial in various graveyards in the area.
Thousands of people gathered to pay respect to their relatives whose bodies were found in a mass grave near Prijedor last year.
Jasmina Mrkalj, a 24-year-old student, buried five of her relatives on Sunday.
"I don't feel good at all, because I never got to meet them and I never got the chance to get to know them," she said.
"This is not fair, they (Serbian troops) cannot tell us that this is not genocide. This is a genocide, and they should tell the whole world it is," she added.
The victims were killed in the summer of 1992, when Serb troops went from house to house in the area of Prijedor and killed any non-Serbs they found.
They hid the bodies in mass graves, some of which have only been discovered recently.
Many victims were detained in the infamous Serb detention camps of Omarska and Keraterm, just outside Prijedor.
Some victims were released upon the arrival of the Red Cross, but most were murdered and thrown into various mass graves around the town of Prijedor.
It is estimated that some 2,000 Bosniaks were detained at the camps during 1992.
About 10,000 Bosnians remain missing from the war.
