Between April and July 2024, Canadian Pacific No. 2816 embarked on a journey dubbed the "Final Spike Steam Tour." This extraordinary expedition would take the 94-year-old steam locomotive across three different countries: Canada, the United States, and Mexico. The occasion was to celebrate the merger of the Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern railroads, creating the first direct rail link between Canada and Mexico. Additionally, this was 2816's first mainline excursion since 2011.
