Beethoven: Allegro (1st movt from Sonata in E, Op. 14 No. 1)
This was a bright and vibrant rendering with crisp articulation and mostly very successful tonal balance, exploring a suitably wide range of tonal colour. Just scope for a little more cleanliness of pedal at times, but otherwise playing was highly accurate and delivered with assurance, showing stylistic awareness throughout.

J. P. Johnson: Over the Bars
A stylish and highly imaginative account, fully communicating the lively character of the music and the brisk tempo was very well managed. Dynamic detail was effective, clearly contouring the phrases and there was very good note accuracy and tonal awareness.

Schubert: Impromptu in A flat (No. 2 from Four Impromptus, Op. 142, D. 935)
The opening was suitably still and paced effectively with mostly good voicing of the chords, despite a few very slight lapses in the ensemble. Well contrasted in the next section, which flowed along with clear shape and direction in the phrasing. One or two note blemishes, but there was plenty of musical detail and this was very convincing playing overall.

Chopin: Nocturne in F# major Op. 15 No. 2
Expressive and stylish, with suitable use of rubato and well projected melody line, capturing the lyrical style successfully. The decorative lines were superbly controlled in this committed account and although there were a couple of very minor note blemishes, playing was absolutely engaging throughout.
