Turkish forces and Syrian rebels have been securing areas around the strategic northern Syrian town of Jarablus, a day after helping Syrian rebels take it from the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS).
The Free Syrian Army (FSA) now controls Jarablus and surrounding villages.
Ultimately, FSA rebels, with the help of Turkey, want to drive ISIL out of every part of Aleppo province that the ISIL controls near the border.
But the Turkish incursion into the neighbouring war-torn country is also meant to prevent Kurdish YPG forces from gaining a stronger foothold along Turkey's border.
Al Jazeera’s Hashem Ahelbarra reports from the Turkish town of Karkamis near the Syrian border.
