In October 2016, SWMCOL launched yet another project under its "Get Into Green" umbrella: the Biological Wetlands Leachate Treatment System at the Guanapo Landfill in east Trinidad. The project is a pilot initiative spanning several months with the aim of augmenting the Guanapo Landfill's existing treatment system, thereby further mitigating the risks of contamination of the Guanapo River and the Petite Caigual.
