The name itself suggests that Panchganga is the place which marks the surreal confluence of five sacred rivers - Ganga, Yamuna, Saraswati, Kirana and Dhupapapa. Together they form a gorgeous spectacle of nature and holiness which the devotees visit with utter devotion. Panchganga Ghat today, is reckoned amongst the top tourist places in Varanasi where devotees can be seen taking a holy dip in the water. This religious site also serves as a great exemplar of Hindu-Muslim harmony. Near the ghat, there is a mosque of Alamgir which is also known as Madhav-ka Dera.
