Welcome to the worldwide online streaming of the DARE to CARE Youth Gathering, which took place on 13th of October in Oslo.
At the Youth Gathering discussions of empathy and compassion are presented in a relevant and lively way, connecting modern science with contemplative traditions. Its aim is to respond to the needs of the younger generation and to broaden their understanding of what it is to be human. The speakers -including Stanford neuroscientist James Doty and three-time Nobel Peace Prize nominee and human rights activist Scilla Elworthy - are renowned for their research on compassion and for their commitment to creating a society that is kinder, happier and more human.
For the first time this year, we offered the event via live web streaming connecting hundreds of young people around the globe to this exciting discussion. Over the past four years, the Youth Gatherings have reached about 700 young people from the UK and the US. This year we hoped to reach even more young people all over the world.
Please enjoy the streaming. Due to sound difficulties the general welcome has been edited out. It starts with the introduction of the first speaker by masters of ceremony David Rycroft and Yara Vrolijks.
If you feel inspired, please get in touch and we can explore the possibilities together to organize a similar youth event, in your school/university or in a different context.
