After our first full year of generation and the numbers are in.
Although payback periods aren't a concern for myself it's still good to know how good an investment Solar PV can be regardless of the environmental benefits it brings.
The original array is located in Norfolk, UK and is south facing with reasonably unobstructed views other than a few trees in winter whilst the sun is low in the morning.
It was installed by Eon in January 2019 at a cost of £4,500, comprising of 14 JA Solar 280w panels connected to a Ginlong Solis 3.6kw inverter.
The Solis inverter is out performing an optimised Solaredge array in dull conditions so performance wise I'm very happy.
After 1yr, I've had no issues whatsoever.

In this video I go into detail as to what my estimated and actual savings have been in the first year and using these numbers have projected our array will have paid for itself in six and half years.
Obviously if you apply increases to utility prices over the years, payback improves further.
Equally , if you utilise your PV differently you will achieve different values. I estimate I utilise about 75% of the energy I generate. Most of our consumption is during the day and our EV can mostly charge during the day also.
We're also quite low energy users to start with. The more energy you use during the day, the more benefits you're likely to see. Now that payments aren't available for generating solar energy under the FiT scheme it's even more important to utilise the energy you generate.
