Over 1000 acres of land belonging to Egerton University, Chemeron campus in Marigat, Baringo South under siege, currently charcoal burners invading and massively felling down indigenous trees.
If the situation is left unaddressed, then desertification covering the entire land shall soon be announced.
Although the ground if all goes well is earmarked to host imminent Baringo County University.
Currently apart from housing wild animals, the forest cover protects seasonal streams serving the surrounding communities and channeling water to silted and abandoned Chemeron water dam.
The allocation of land dates back to former Kanu regime headed by the late president Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi.
Government is therefore called upon to arrest the situation.
