Also spelled as "pan de sal," is a type of bread roll that is a popular breakfast staple in the Philippines. The name "pandesal" translates to "salt bread" in Spanish, although the bread itself is not particularly salty. It is traditionally made with flour, yeast, sugar, salt, and sometimes eggs or milk.
Typically soft, fluffy, and slightly sweet, with a crust that is often coated in breadcrumbs. It is usually served fresh and warm, often enjoyed dipped in coffee or hot chocolate, or paired with a spread like butter, jam, cheese, or a Filipino favorite, "kesong puti" (white cheese).
Though this recipe doesn't use butter, milk and egg, this pandesal still tastes so good.
