Day 6 sees us leaving Veliko Turnovo and heading north to Ruse and the waters of the Danube. En route we check out Nikopolis ad Istrum, a ruined Roman city, Cherven, a mediaeval fortress perched high atop cliffs and the painted rock churches of Ivanovo. We then visit Bulgaria's fifth-largest city, before heading down river to the beautiful town of Tutrakan with it's preserved fishermen's quarter.
