Full uncut video of our first police stop in Morocco. We're publishing this in full to show that the police officer in the video did NOT ask for or take a bribe, and to show that we did not offer him a bribe.
In episode 20 'Speeding to the Sahara', we made the comment -
"After making a generous donation to the Moroccan police coffers..."
This was a humorous British comment, meant as a joke to poke fun at the system that extracts money from motorists, rather than recognising it as a fine for wrongdoing. The meaning was lost in translation as Moroccans and the British clearly don't share the same sense of humour.
Unfortunately this comment, and the way I edited the original video has led to the police officer getting into trouble. His wife contacted me and asked if I would publish the video in full, so here it is.
Below is the original video, episode 20

We also published another encounter with the Moroccan police which is below
Episode 23 - [ Ссылка ]
The Moroccan authorities need to understand that if they want more tourists to come and help support their economy then they need to address the situation of having so many police check points collecting fines up and down the country.
They can say it's about road safety but as you can see from this video, I was clearly driving safely. The system is designed so it will catch people out and collect money for the Moroccan authorities and it is money that would be going into the pockets of the Moroccan traders, shopkeepers and restaurant owners. The system is driving tourist out of the country and money out of the pockets of the Moroccan people.
Finally, nobody should have an issue with the police being videoed and photographed, it shows transparency and drives out corruption. In my second interaction with the Moroccan police in Episode 23 I was willing to pay the fine if they had proof I was speeding, but they offered no proof, and because I was videoing they did not issue me with a ticket.
