"Why Free-Market Conservatives and Moderate Democrats Should Build A New Liberal Movement" is a recording from FREOPP's #Agenda2025 virtual conference on Nov. 5, 2020. It features Avik Roy, David Frum, Rich Lowry, Yascha Mounk, and Steven Teles.
In the 1950s, National Review founder William F. Buckley led a motley crew of libertarians, social conservatives, and Cold Warriors to build the modern conservative movement. But the Cold War has been over for 30 years, and 1950s-style social conservatism is far removed from the lives of rising generations. Meanwhile, the Democratic Party is divided between its Bernie-AOC wing and its business-oriented constituencies. In his keynote address for Agenda 2025, FREOPP President Avik Roy argues that it’s time to build a new liberal coalition, with people from both parties who embrace free enterprise, equal opportunity, and civil rights.
