STORYLINE
A group of protesters held a rally in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, on Friday, to express their anger about an anti-Islam film produced in the United States.
Khairul Faizi, the secretary of Malaysia's PAS Youth Council, called on the American government to "take strict action" against the person who produced the film.
"If there is any further delay in their action, these things, we believe it will be a massive protest," he said.
The low-budget film "Innocence of Muslims" ridicules Islam and depicts the Prophet Muhammad as a fraud, a womaniser and a madman.
Since it emerged on the Internet, it has prompted violent protests at US embassies in the Middle East.
In Libya, the American ambassador and three other staff members were killed when the US consulate in Benghazi was attacked.
In Indonesia, meanwhile, about 200 protesters gathered outside the US Embassy to condemn the film.
Many carried the black flags of the organisation Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia, a branch of the international network that advocates a worldwide Islamic state.
The group, which organised the protest, on its website blamed the US government for allowing the film to be produced and released, calling it "an act of barbarism that cannot go unpunished."
Protest leader Muhammad Rahmat Kurnia said the organisation was declaring war on America.
