(29 Jul 2015) The nationwide death toll from this month's flash floods in various parts of Pakistan rose to 86 on Wednesday as floodwater inundated hundreds of villages, leaving tens of thousands of people homeless, authorities said.
The floods have affected more than 500,000 people in the two weeks since deluges hit the northern city of Chitral and the eastern Punjab province, the National Disaster Management Authority said.
The Falah-e-Insaniyat Foundation (the relief wing of Jammat-ud-Dawa, a banned group which the UN considers to be a front group for militant organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba) has launched motorboat services, medical camps and food distribution units in flood-affected areas.
