Nature-based solutions (NbS) – actions to protect, sustainably manage and restore ecosystems – have gained significant political and public traction as a holistic approach to addressing the intertwining crises of climate change, biodiversity loss, and rising poverty and inequality. NbS now regularly feature in commitments across governments, businesses and civil society, but how do we turn this enthusiasm into real, quality action?
This online event – a collaboration between the RSPB, IIED and the CAN-UK International Nature-based Solutions Working Group – showcases nature-based solutions in action across the globe, with real life evidence of how NbS can deliver positive outcomes for climate, nature and people. We hear from NbS practitioners, with a spotlight on China, Sierra Leone and Mali, and have an in-depth discussion about what really makes a successful NbS project tick. The event provides a sneak preview of the upcoming release of a brand-new report by 12 environment and development organisations showcasing examples of NbS in action, with recommendations and key success factors for how to make sure NbS deliver for all.
This session is part of the RSPB event series on ‘Nature and Climate: The Science, Policy and Practice’ and was held on July 7th 2021.
