Community Journalists and media volunteers ensure that the community has a voice during this pandemic as a critical voice and that Listeners, readers and viewers while being under quarantine in their homes still have access to information not only about their communities but also national and international news that have an impact on their lives.
It is therefore undoubted that the community media space is critical especially during the pandemic. However, It is no secret, the seriousness of the economic impact on the already existing challenges faced by the community sector such as a further cut in advertising spend coupled with cancelled events which will worsen the sustainability challenges that already exist.
