For more information about V.U.R. or to find a pediatric urologist near you, go the the Urology Care Foundation's website, urologyhealth.org. The Urology care Foundation is the official foundation of the American Urological Association.
The urinary tract is set-up as a one-way street with the kidneys. Normally, the urine flows down the ureters, to the bladder, and comes out through the urethra. When a child had reflux, urine flows backward on this one-way street into the kidneys when their bladder fills or when they urinate.
