Have you thought about how your MS meds affect your microbiome? 💊🤔
On an episode of The MSing Link podcast, I dove deep into the microbiome with Dr. Lindsey Elmore.
💥 Research shows a strong connection between our microbiome and the medications we take — especially for people with a chronic illness like MS 💥
Our gut microbiome is key to metabolism, immune function, and brain health, but meds like antibiotics, PPIs, antidepressants, and laxatives can disrupt the balance.
Here are a few of Dr. Elmore’s tips on how people with MS can heal their gut:
1️⃣ Remove Gut Triggers
Eliminate inflammatory foods like gluten, sugar, and dairy, and reduce stimulants like caffeine.
2️⃣ Diversify Your Diet
Eat colorful, fiber-rich foods and add fermented foods (like yogurt and kimchi) to your diet. 🥗
3️⃣ Rebalance Stress and Attitude
Manage stress with meditation, yoga, or eliminating unnecessary stressors to help your gut-brain axis function better. 🧘♀️
Taking steps to support your gut health can make a big difference in your MS symptoms!
Will you try any of these tips? Let me know!
