GH Mumm Grand Cordon Review:
The Grand Cordon cuvée is the more prestigious blend after the Cordon Rouge. Recognisable by its large, red sash in hommage to Napoléon's légion d'honneur.
[01:53] Robe & Perlage:
Grand Cordon features a pale straw robe with fine and small bubbles that glide gracefully to the surface.
[02:14] Nose & Bouquet:
Furthermore, Grand Cordon features overt green apples notes in the nose with a yeasty background.
[02:35] Palate & Mouthfeel:
Grand Cordon is probably one of the most accessible champagnes that we have reviewed. As with the nose, the palate features remarkable green apple notes as well as a citrus aroma.
The finish features warm brioche with a chalky ending.
It's much more refined than the Cordon Rouge blend and you can pick out a discernable difference.
[04:42] When To Drink & Pairings:
As Champagnes go, it's quite easy to pair as an apéritif with french fries or pretzels as well as starters from salads to seafood.
However, being quite delicate, avoid pairing with red meat and the tartness makes it too dry for desserts.
Cordon Rouge offers excellent value for money as a versatile and enjoyable champagne for almost any occasion.
