This video is a taxi test of the E-Flite 90mm Viper EDF (electric ducted fan) radio control model jet airplane. It was very easy to assemble only requiring nine screws. The jet is big and fast. It comes with a 130 amp Spektrum Avian ESC (electronic speed control). The Avian is a new speed controller with a feature allowing the motor to run in reverse allowing reverse thrust to be used as a brake on landings. The reverse mode in the ESC is assigned to a channel on the transmitter (default channel 7) and then that channel is assigned to a switch on the transmitter. There is a special menu item on Spektrum transmitters that is used to program the Avian ESC and set the “Braking Type” to Reverse and set the channel the ESC will use to run the motor Forward or Reverse. You also need to assign a transmitter switch to the selected channel. On older Spektrum transmitters you may need to update the firmware in order to access the ESC programming menu.
